Christmas Tree Disposal

Closed for the Season

The collection sites are closed at this time. Do not deliver trees to the sites at this time. Leaving a tree when the sites are closed is punishable by a fine of up to $500, loss of drivers license for 6 months and all clean up costs. Omaha Municipal Code, Chapter 34, ARTICLE I, Section 4.

At any time Christmas trees may be cut down to fit in the black lid waste cart, or may be taken to the Oma-Gro facility as described by clicking here.

Disposal Requirements

Please Remove

  • Nails
  • Wires
  • Ornaments
  • Tree stand
  • Plastic bags (please take bags home and dispose with garbage)
  • Lights
  • Wreathes and evergreen roping will not be accepted.
  • Flocked trees are ok.

All sites will close on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024. Do not deliver trees after this date. Doing so is illegal dumping and punishable by a fine of up to $500, loss of drivers license for 6 months and all clean up costs. Omaha Municipal Code, Chapter 34, ARTICLE I, Section 4.


Please throw your tree up on the pile. This will leave room for others to access the site.

You may begin using the sites on December 24. The sites are open daily during daylight hours. Assistance from volunteers is available at select sites and only on the days listed.

Volunteers from the Rotary Clubs of Omaha, and the Douglas-Sarpy Master Gardeners will staff  the Tranquility North and F Street Football Field sites listed below to help you unload your tree on Saturday  December 30th, Sunday December 31st, Saturday, January 6th and Sunday January 7th, 2024, from 10AM until 4PM each day.
